Ever wondered how to change your admin username in WordPress? Well here’s a simple, easy to follow guide.
First of all, you will need to be logged into your WordPress dashboard.
Once logged in to your WordPress dashboard, on the left hand menu hover over the “Users” item, then select Add New.
Fill in the details for the new admin account. this will be how the new user will appear.
PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to select “Administrator” from the dropdown box.
Once filled in click “Add new user”
We now have a new administrator profile, but we will need to remove the old user account.
To do this, you will need to log into your new user account, select the user tab in dashboard again, then click all users.
Find your old user name on the “All users” screen then click delete.
While deleting, you will be prompted on “What should be done with content owned by this user“, click “Attribute all content to” then select your new administrator account from the drop down box.
Click confirm deletion and that’s it! Your old admin username will now have been deleted. You will need to always login with your new details.
